Start with evidence you already have
Paid employment is one source of experience. A class project, a volunteer role or a substantial personal project can also show how you organize work, communicate or use a tool. Label each experience accurately so a reader can distinguish it from employment.
- List the responsibilities of your target entry-level role.
- Choose projects or activities that demonstrate those responsibilities.
- Describe your own contribution, the output and the context.
- Add your actual education, expected graduation date and relevant training.

- Maintained a shared spreadsheet of volunteer availability for a community event.
- Confirmed assignments with the event organizer and communicated schedule changes.
- Prepared a contact sheet for use at the welcome desk.
The example identifies the setting and deliverables without implying a paid coordinator position. Replace it with a project you completed and can explain in an interview.
A useful section order
Begin with contact details and a short, role-specific summary. Put Education before Projects when your studies are the strongest match; put Projects first when the work is more relevant. Finish with a concise list of supported skills and any relevant volunteering.
What if I have no projects?
Consider genuine responsibilities from a club, household or community activity, using a label that makes the context clear. You can also complete a small relevant project and describe it afterward. Do not invent employment to fill space.
Should I include every course?
No. Choose a small number that directly support the role, and explain relevant project work where possible. Avoid presenting an introductory course as professional expertise.
