Match evidence to the requirements
Copying every phrase from a posting can make an application less credible. Instead, identify the employer’s main responsibilities, find the experience that supports them and make that evidence easy to read.

A practical tailoring sequence
- Keep a factual base resume. Save the version containing your real roles, dates, education and achievements. Each tailored version should trace back to that source.
- Choose one job. Paste its description and check the title, company, location and requirements. Combining unrelated job descriptions can blur the priorities.
- Write your instructions. Ask for a relevant emphasis, a clearer tone or a specific length. For example: “Emphasize project coordination and written updates. Keep every date and employer unchanged. Do not add budget management experience.”
- Review the draft before exporting. Check claims, names, dates, skills, tense and contact details. Keep useful changes and edit anything that overstates your role.
- Use the letter to connect the evidence. Explain why two or three real experiences matter for this role. Avoid merely repeating the resume or claiming enthusiasm for a company you have not researched.
A matching letter is optional, not a download hurdle
You can generate and download your resume without completing a cover letter. If the role needs a letter, use the same resume and job context to prepare it. Matching styles make the documents look like one application; the content should serve two different purposes.

A materially different role may call for a different summary, section emphasis or letter. A small formatting change usually does not need a new AI generation. You can manually edit a saved document, switch an available style and download again without using generation credits.

- Open the job posting and confirm the employer’s requested format and application instructions.
- Make sure the exported file contains the intended role’s version, with no leftover company name from a different letter.
- Read the final PDF or Word document, including page breaks and contact information.
- Mark the application as submitted only after you actually send it through the employer’s process.
Relevance is not a guarantee. A matching score or a well-written draft cannot promise an interview. Focus on a truthful, readable application that helps the employer understand your fit.
