What the free check gives you
ResumeHack reviews the content you provide and returns an estimated ATS compatibility score, category feedback and the first three issues to address. You can add a target job description for more relevant context.
A clear starting point
Identify whether your experience is easy to follow, your sections have familiar labels and your wording makes the work you did visible.
Your next useful action
Create a free account to turn the feedback into one rewritten resume and one matching cover letter. Review, manually edit and download your earned documents as PDF or Word files.
A score is not a hiring prediction. Employers use different systems and hiring criteria. ResumeHack is not an employer’s ATS, and a high estimate cannot guarantee parsing, an interview or a job.
Five checks you can make before uploading
- Make the reading order obvious. Use a clear name and contact line, followed by familiar section labels such as Experience, Education and Skills. A simple single-column layout is a useful starting point.
- Test the text, not only the picture. Try selecting and copying a paragraph from your PDF. If the result is missing or scrambled, export a text-based version or use your Word file. A screenshot of a resume contains less accessible text.
- Explain the work behind a skill. A skills list is stronger when the experience section shows where you used those skills. Add an example you can substantiate, rather than copying a list from a job advertisement.
- Make roles and dates easy to follow. Use consistent date formatting and distinguish the employer from the position. Explain overlapping work when the original format makes the sequence unclear.
- Use numbers only when you know them. Real scope and outcomes help. Invented percentages or impressive-looking metrics make the document less trustworthy.
A clearer bullet does not need an invented number
Original fictional example
“Helped the team with projects and prepared weekly updates.”
Suppose the applicant confirms they tracked project tasks and prepared weekly updates for the operations team. That supports a more concrete version:
“Coordinated project task tracking and prepared weekly status updates for the operations team.”
The revision names the action and audience. It does not claim faster delivery, revenue growth or a percentage improvement that the applicant never provided. If the applicant did not coordinate the work, choose a more accurate verb.
Use your scan to make a better application
Start with the most concrete issue you can fix. Check the revised wording against your original experience. Then compare the draft with one real job description and make the most relevant, supported evidence easy to find.
Your free account includes three scans per calendar month and one resume build plus one letter generation, once per account. When you need more new drafts, the $4.95 monthly Starter includes Five new applications per billing month, including a resume and matching letter for each target, unlimited paid-month scans and full reports, and job-description checks.

Common questions
Do I need to register to see a result?
No account is needed for the first guest scan and its score, category feedback and top three issues. A free account adds saved work, three monthly scans and your one-time resume and letter generations.
Should I upload a file or paste text?
Both work for content feedback. Use your original PDF or DOCX when you want the service to inspect the document’s extracted structure. Pasted text is useful when a file is unavailable, but does not preserve the original layout.
Is a “missing keyword” always something to add?
No. Add a skill only when you can demonstrate it. A requirement you do not have should remain a gap, not become a claim on your resume.
Choose a readable document style
Review the resume template gallery and matching cover letters. Simple is included with your free document; all five styles are included in Starter and Pro. Preview designs before you choose, and inspect your final export.
